Ep 13 Photo 7

The conflict between Ali Riza and Hasmet continues.  He tells Hasmet not to threaten him anymore, especially around Halide.  Hasmet responds that no one can talk to him like that in his house.  Halide doesn’t understand why Hasmet is so angry and wants to know if there is something else going on, but he refuses to answer her.  Halide insists and Hasmet finally tells her Ali Riza should be the one answering her questions if they plan on making a life together.  Frustrated, Halide asks Ali Riza who tells her Hasmet threatened him that he would stop supporting him with the consortium if he didn’t stop seeing her.

Fuat continues questioning Ismael about Ali Riza and how he successfully poisoned Jabir’s brother in prison to help him escape.  Ismael tells Fuat he doesn’t know Ali Riza, he was contacted by Muzaffer.  Fuat demands to know everything about Muzaffer then calls Hasmet to meet immediately to discuss what he discovered about Ali Riza.  As Hasmet leaves, Halide attempts to stop him but is not successful.   Halide is worried that Hasmet will do something that will harm Ali Riza but he assures her that he will take care of it and follows Hasmet.

As Ali Riza follows Hasmet, he calls Muzaffer to inform him Hasmet has terminated their agreement.  Muzaffer becomes angry and tells him he’s risking his life and the operation, but Ali Riza assures him that he’ll take care of it.  Muzaffer becomes more upset when Ali Riza informs him Hasmet is on his way to meet with Fuat.  Ali Riza tells Muzaffer to not do anything but Muzaffer hangs up on him and orders his men to take out Hasmet before he meets with Fuat.  As Ali Riza rushes to catch up to Hasmet, he sees two men hiding guns approach Hasmet’s vehicle, so he runs and jumps into his car knowing Muzaffer’s men won’t shoot if he’s near.

Unaware of what’s going on outside, Hasmet orders Ali Riza to get out but he refuses and tells him to wait a few minutes.  Hasmet notices the two men leaving and realizes Ali Riza just saved his life.  He tells him that what he just did doesn’t change his mind.  Before getting out of the car, Ali Riza confesses to Hasmet that he’s never fallen in love before so he’s not giving up.

After the failed operation on Hasmet, Muzaffer receives word Fuat has contacted Ismael who gave him his name.  Muzaffer knows Fuat will not stop investigating Ali Riza until all his doubts are satisfied so he comes up with a plan to find someone to take his place who is also named Muzaffer that has ties with the prison where Jabir’s brother was located.    Fuat speaks with Hasmet about his doubts with Ali Riza and questions him if he doesn’t think it’s odd that he’s been so successful in all his missions, but Hasmet doesn’t agree.  Fuat tells Hasmet about Ali Riza working with someone named Muzaffer who could possibly be with the government or intelligence.  Hasmet tells Fuat since he introduced Ali Riza to them, if they prove Ali Riza is really working with the government, then he will kill him himself.

As Ali Riza is heading home, he receives a call from Galip who informs him Erol and Akhmet will be meeting with him.  Ali Riza expresses his surprise since they have refused to work with him since the beginning.  Galip tells Ali Riza they’ve been working together for a long time so they need to resolve their issues so they can continue to do business together.

Erol and Akhmet meet with Ali Riza to talk business and drop off the money they collected from various businesses on behalf of the consortium.  As they hand over the money, they hear police sirens.  Erol proceeds to burn the money telling Ali Riza that’s what their new leader does to get rid of evidence when the police are around.  This of course is part of Burak’s plan to destroy Ali Riza’s reputation.  Ali Riza promises they’ll fear him every time they have to interact.  After they leave, Ali Riza goes to Galip to let him know what happened.  Galip informs him Erol and Akhmet are good workers, so he needs to work on earning their respect.  He informs him a lot of their co-workers are not happy with Ali Riza’s quick rise to his position so he’ll need to gain their acceptance and trust.  This obviously doesn’t sit well with Ali Riza.

When Hasmet gets home, he’s met by Halide who’s still up waiting for him.  She questions him again about his feelings towards her and Ali Riza.  Hasmet tells her Ali Riza’s path for revenge is dangerous and he doesn’t want her affected.  He surprises her by telling her he’s thinking about retiring again and if Ali Riza drops out of the business too, then he won’t object to their relationship.  Halide knows Ali Riza won’t stop until he gets revenge so Hasmet tells her if he loves her, he will.

Later, Ali Riza has a strong confrontation with Muzaffer about his attempt on Hasmet.  Muzaffer tells him he had to do it to stop Hasmet from talking to Fuat.  Muzaffer is dumbfounded that his love for Halide is derailing their operation.  He demands Ali Riza to make a decision but he says he’s already sacrificed himself on several occasions when he told him not to kill Burak, then again when he told him not to harm the consortium, and then again when he had to bow his head to everyone in the underworld who he despises.  Muzaffer accuses him of losing his desire for revenge because of his love for Halide but Ali Riza tells him nothing will change his plan.  As he walks out, Muzaffer informs him Fuat found Ismael who gave him his name.  He tells him he has a plan to satisfy Fuat’s suspicions but Ali Riza will need to use one of his close friends to make it more convincing.

Muzaffer finds someone who can take his place to meet Fuat.  He’s was the director of the prison where Jabir’s brother was located but was fired due to his alcoholism.  He looks very similar to Muzaffer so he leaks his address to Fuat and rushes to convince him to act like him when Fuat pays him a visit.  When Muzaffer arrives at his residence but finds him passed out drunk.  They get him to sober up and convince him to act like him and in return, they’ll pay him a considerable amount of money.  The fake Muzaffer is so desperate, he agrees.

Murat informs Fuat he’s getting married to Fusun.  He’s upset he didn’t speak with him before making that decision but tells him he won’t object as long as Fusun signs a prenup.  At that moment, Fuat receives word they’ve located Muzaffer’s location, so he leaves Murat in the middle of their conversation.

Ali Riza visits Halide at the clinic as she makes the final preparations for opening day.  Still upset about Hasmet’s reaction to their relationship, she tells him he would accept with one condition.  Ali Riza tells her he’s already aware of the condition but he can’t return to his life until he finishes what he started.  Halide asks him if his love for her isn’t strong enough to bring him back from his path.  He tells her he understands her concerns but if he doesn’t finish what he started, then he won’t have a purpose in life.

As Ali Riza arrives at the Taxi Café, he sees Hasmet waiting for him.  He asks about Muzaffer.  Ali Riza says it’s a ghost that Fuat is chasing, so Hasmet warns him Fuat will continue to investigate until he’s satisfied.  Ali Riza tells him he doesn’t care what Fuat does, he only cares about what he plans on doing.  Hasmet tells him if Fuat confirms his suspicions, then he will personally shoot him in the head.  Ali Riza says he did the right thing because that will protect him and Halide from the consortium.  Hasmet tries to convince Ali Riza that a person who truly loves someone is capable of separating themselves to protect them just like he did with Halide for 8 years.  Ali Riza accuses Hasmet of running away from her.  He points out the fact that if he had run away too, then he would have done it when Burak was forcing Halide out of his taxi.  He tells him he will protect Halide by removing everything that can harm her.

Fuat arrives at fake Muzaffer’s residence and demands to know how and why he helped Jabir’s brother escape from prison.  The fake Muzaffer explains he did it for money with the help of Hasan.  Fuat has Ryfki pick up Hasan to confirm the story.  Hasan was the chosen person to be used in the plan to help hide the real Muzaffer’s identity.  Hasan convinces Fuat he just used his connections at the prison to help Ali Riza with Jabir.  Fuat leaves but appears to still have his doubts.

Halide voices her concerns about her father to Rukiya.  She tells her Hasmet just needs time to get used to their relationship just like she did.  She says she’s willing to accompany her and Ali Riza to speak with Hasmet to help make him understand.  Later, Rukiya invites Hasmet to her house to speak about Halide and Ali Riza.  Hasmet tells her he won’t have a problem with their relationship if Ali Riza gives up his plan for revenge.  Rukiya reminds him that Ali Riza wouldn’t be in the position he’s in if he hadn’t helped him.  As Hasmet gets ready to leave, Rukiya tells him Ali Riza is not going to give up on his path for revenge, just like Halide is not going to give up on Ali Riza.

Ali Riza meets with Ryfki, Sabri, and Mithat’s right-hand man to discuss responsibilities and get a list of all their employees.  At the same time, he asks if any of them are upset at him for getting his new position.  They confess that they all assumed Ryfki would take over but they also say they accept all the decisions made by the consortium and feel they made the right decision by appointing Ali Riza.  He asks if they’re aware of any other employees who are upset, but they respond that they haven’t heard anything so Ali Riza asks them to let him know if they hear anything.  He warns them Numan will probably be using someone within Galip’s area to try to attack them.  At that moment, Burak arrives who tells Ali Riza not to trust any of them because they will eventually stab him in the back.

Later, Burak meets with his team who express concerns that none of the consortium right hands are willing to betray their bosses so Burak suggests plan B.  He tells Numan to destroy Galip’s casino to show the consortium that Ali Riza can’t protect anyone.  They also suggest reaching out to Yavuz, Hasmet’s previous right-hand man to see if he’s willing to join them.  At the casino, Numan shows up yelling that there is no Galip or Ali Riza, and if they want to live they will have to report to him or pay with their lives.  Then they begin shooting everything and everyone including two unexpected guests, Fatih and Rasim, Ali Riza’s brother-in-law.

Ali Riza visits Halide at the clinic later that evening.  He finds her preoccupied with their situation so he tells her about his conversation with Hasmet earlier that day.  Although he still hasn’t changed his mind, he at least listened.  It makes Halide feel a little better especially when Ali Riza promises her that everything will work out.  As they leave hand in hand, Ali Riza receives a call from Ryfki telling him to report to the consortium for a meeting.  Disappointed, Halide has to go home by herself but Ali Riza ever the gentleman, tells her he will at least walk her to her car before he leaves.

At the meeting, the partners discuss the incident at Galip’s casino.  First, they’re upset that Mithat is not present at the meeting and learn that he left unexpectedly to deal with family issues.  Next, they blame Ali Riza for the attack claiming it was a message from Numan.  They demand to know why he hasn’t taken care of him yet, so Ali Riza tells them Numan has been getting help from someone inside their organization.  Hasmet tells him he has to win the respect of the employees so no one goes behind his back.  Ali Riza tells them if they don’t trust him, then they should remove him from his position.  Fuat responds the only way he will be removed is by death.  After the meeting, Ali Riza confronts Fuat and asks if he has a problem with him.  Fuat tells him he would be dead if he did.  He tells Ali Riza he investigates everyone that works with him as a precaution to make sure their tracks don’t lead back to him.

Ali Riza finally makes it home and finds his mother waiting up for him.  She tells him Halide spoke with her earlier so she wanted to let him know that no one is going to judge him if he were to choose love over revenge.  Ali Riza tells her he wouldn’t be able to live a happy life if he doesn’t get revenge because the people that hurt his sister would still be out there hurting other people.  She urges him to talk to Halide to explain how he feels.  He tells her Halide understands but it’s Hasmet that doesn’t.  Rukiya confesses that she spoke with Hasmet earlier.  Ali Riza is surprised but tells her to not waste her time.  In a determined voice, she tells Ali Riza if Hasmet is behind Halide, then she’s behind him and will do everything she can to make him happy.

The next day, Ali Riza visits Halide at the clinic to see how she’s doing.  She tells him she’s worried all the time thinking about him whenever her phone rings.  She confesses she used to feel the same way when she was younger and her brothers were alive and Hasmet was involved in that world.  She asks Ali Riza how much revenge is he going to take and how many obstacles is he going to face before he’s done.  He tells her he didn’t think it was going to be this hard but he can’t turn back.  He tells her no matter what happens, he won’t give up on her BUT if she wants to give up on him, he tells her he’ll understand.

Burak is surprised to find Derya still in his house and in his bed.  As he attempts to escape, he runs into Fiko who teases him about it.  Murat arrives to tell him Fuat wants him to get Fusun to sign a prenup in order for him to accept his marriage.  Burak tells him to just do it and since Fusun is a lawyer, she’ll probably understand.

At the Taxi Café, Sabri tells Ali Riza he heard Erol and Akhmet have been in contact with Yavuz to try to convince him to join them.  Ali Riza asks Sabri to tell Yavuz to meet with him ASAP.  When Yavuz shows up, he’s not happy.  He says he’s not the type of person who can be deceived so easily.  Ali Riza irritates him more by telling him he will hurt the people who have been in contact with him and anyone else that is against him, including him.  Yavuz leaves in a rush and immediately receives a call from Erol asking if he’s decided to join their team.  He tells him even though he doesn’t like Ali Riza, the only person he’ll ever be loyal to is Hasmet, and refuses to join him.  Back at the café, Ali Riza tells Hasan he knows Erol and Akhmet will kill Yavuz and try to blame it on him.  Sure enough, Burak tells Numan to take out Yavuz that evening so Ali Riza can be blamed and be punished by Hasmet.

Fuat is still upset that Mithat has been incommunicado so he invites Melek to have dinner with him and his wife that evening so he can remind her of the responsibilities of being a part of the consortium.  Melek receives a text from Mithat who asks her to record her conversation with Fuat so he knows what he’s saying behind his back.  As they begin speaking, Murat shows up and interrupts their conversation.  He asks to speak with Fuat so Melek excuses herself but leaves her phone so it can continue to record their conversation.  Murat shows Fuat a prenup that Fusun has signed but he tears it up.  Fuat becomes upset and tells him he has given up on him and promises to take away his inheritance along with all his privileges.  Murat tells him money means nothing when it comes to love and he’d rather starve than make money like him.  Fuat accuses him of acting righteous just because of Fusun, but Murat tells him both he and Burak have been forced to kill for money.  He had them kill Melek’s sister along with his best friends who all happen to be Halide’s family.  Fuat yells at him to shut up or risk getting hurt but Murat tells him he’s been living with that nightmare all his life.  As Fuat tries to calm down, Melek gets her phone and listens to the conversation, and is stunned to the core at the confession about her family.

As Ali Riza follows Yavuz, he realizes a trap has been set-up so he cuts off Yavuz and comes under attack by Numan.  Ali Riza sees Numan try to escape but he follows him and takes him down.  He asks if Burak is behind everything but before Numan can respond, snipers arrive pointing infrared weapons at Ali Riza ordering him to drop his weapon.  Ali Riza does what he’s told and is taken away as Hasan and Ferit watch from afar unable to save him.  Until next week!

My Thoughts:

I loved Rukiya in this episode for standing up to Hasmet and not backing down.  I also loved that she gave Ali Riza an opportunity to choose Halide over revenge as a way to ease his problems.  Burak and Fiko were really fun to watch.  They have a great bromance going on! I like seeing them being silly instead of annoying the S#%T out of everyone.  I can’t wait to see what Melek does with the revelation about her sister and nephews.  Fuat better watch out!  And who do I think is behind Ali Riza’s kidnapping?  I’m betting on Fuat since he’s been trying to get rid of him since the beginning for Burak’s sake.  My favorite Ali Riza quote from this episode “I’m starting a new era.  If someone doesn’t follow the condition, I’ll crush his head.”
