Production has begun on the second season of Star TV's drama series Yalı Çapkını in Istanbul. The OGM Pictures series tells the story of two sisters whose paths cross with the heir to a family full of betrayal, lies, and secrets.
The show was an instant hit in its first season, ranking #1 in the ratings on Friday nights, in addition to being licensed in many other regions, including MENA and LATAM.
The official logline for Season 2 remains under wraps, but the series has undergone a handful of major changes heading into the new season. For starters, screenwriter Mehmet Barış Günger has handed off his writing duties to Leyla Uslu Oter and Ekin Akçay, known recently for their work on the short-lived OGM series, Yüz Yillik Mucize.
Additionally, several actors have left, and others have joined the cast for Season 2. Departing are Buçe Buse Kahraman, who played the much-despised character Pelin; Baran Bölükbaşı, who joined the series just before the season ended as the trigger-happy Tarik; Ediz Akşehir, who played Saffet, and lastly, Toprak Sağlam, who played Pelin's mother, Zerrin.
Per journalist Birsen Altuntas, actors joining the cast of the series include Tarık "Taro" Emir Tekin, set to play Halis Ağa (Çetin Tekindor)'s grandson who returns from overseas, and veteran actress Binnur Kaya, who was offered the role of Halis Ağa's daughter.
Fan favorite leads Afra Saraçoğlu and Mert Ramazan Demir will, of course, be returning for the new season, alongside Çetin Tekindor, Şerif Sezer, Gülçin Şantırcıoğlu, Emre Altuğ, Gözde Kansu, Ersin Arıcı, Beril Pozam, Doğukan Polat, İrem Altuğ, and others from the series' original cast. Burcu Alptekin will also be back to direct the series.
