Mipcom 2019: October 14 – 17 2019

MIPCOM, the global market for entertainment content across all platforms, is currently underway in Cannes, France, with distructors and stars from all around the world, including Turkey, marketing their shows and what makes them great! Since we're focued solely on Turkish series, here's all latest news out of Cannes! 

 

Kuzgun

Though the show will abruptly end on Wednesday (October 16), Kuzgun landed its first licensing sale to Albania at Mipcom. Speaking of the series, Albert Dumani, TVKLAN’s head of programming and acquisitions, said: “The best channel in Albania must have the best products from the best company. Secondly, Kuzgun is so intense with action and romance. Last, but not least, are the leading actors, who are very well-known and beloved by viewers all over the world.”

Additionally, Kuzgun was also sold to Romania's Pro TV!

Abandoned

Nippon Television Network Corporation (Nippon TV) has signed its fifth deal with Turkish producer MF Yapim, this one regarding format rights to its one-hour drama series Abandoned. The company will be remaking the series in Turkey.


Partnerships

Massive news out of Mipcom. Turkey's Tims & B Productions has teamed up with Spain's Plano a Plano to together co-produce "series in Spanish with Turkish DNA." 

“Together we will produce an original series that will be a Turkish-Spanish co-production in the true sense of the word. We will bring the two cultures together and touch each other's feelings. Until today, the rights of script and series had been sold or adapted between the two countries. But today, for the first time, we will embark on a period of mutual development and production. ”

Hercai

Fan-favorite series Hercai made an impact at Mipcom, with the show's two leads and with three confirmed licensing agreements signed, sealed, and delivered. The three confirmed countries Hercai will air in include Albania, Bulgaria, and Spain's Atresmedia! 


Kuruluş Osman (The Ottoman) 

The spin-off of of what could possibly be Turkey's biggest export, Diriliş: Ertuğrul, did not leave Mipcom empty-handed. The sales was sold to channels in Afganistan, Albania, Pakistan (all countries the original had been a massive success in, in the past).


Babil

Of everything that happened at Mipcom, this is probably the biggest – Babil, the Ay Yapim highly-anticipated drama packed with a star-studded cast made an appearance at Cannes, to showcase the up-and-coming drama.



As we reported, Babil tells a story of an unemployed professor concocts what turns out to be Turkey’s largest-ever financial fraud in the course of trying to save his son’s life.
