Golden Boy (Yalı Çapkını) Acquired in the Nordics

Eccho Rights has announced new sales for its record-breaking Turkish drama, Golden Boy as broadcasters in Sweden and Finland have licensed rights to air the series in their respective regions.

Per the press release, the title has officially become the first Turkish Drama picked up by a commercial broadcaster in Sweden, with TV4 acquiring the rights for its TV4GOLD and Sjuan linear channels, as well as streamer CMore and TV4 Play. Additionally, the deal with MTV Oy represents the first time ever that a Turkish series has been licensed by a Finnish broadcast group, with Golden Boy to stream on CMore and Katsomo in Finland.

Golden Boy was the most-watched series of 2022 in Turkey, scoring ratings higher than had been seen for many years. The title has continued strongly into 2023 and continues to rank as the number-one drama series in the country each week.

Since premiering in September 2022,  the series has been licensed to more than 35 territories worldwide.

“We are thrilled to once again be at the forefront of bringing Turkish Drama to new audiences. Golden Boy’s extraordinary success so far makes it an easy choice for broadcasters looking to test something new,” says Melis Hamacioglu, Director of Digital Media Acquisition & Content Sales, MENA, India, Pakistan & Western Europe at Eccho Rights.

Golden Boy, produced by OGM Pictures for Star TV, is a classic family drama that tells the story of two sisters, Seyran and Suna, whose paths cross with golden boy Ferit. The two sisters’ lives change forever when Ferit decides to marry Seyran instead of Suna. Seyran will be the new bride in a family full of betrayals, lies, and secrets, while Suna will start making revenge plans to get back her stolen future. The series stars Afra Saraoğlu, Mert Ramazan Demir & Çetin Tekindor.
