Tokyo Broadcasting System Television (TBS) has announced a remake option agreement with Turkish production company MOST PRODUCTION for its 1999 drama Le Bel Homme. The drama, which captivated viewers as an adult romance and offered an unprecedented and unique atmosphere, was written by Shinji Nojima, known for his screenplays for numerous hit movies and dramas. The Turkish remake would be the second time the series has been adapted, following the South Korean version that was produced in 2019.
Per the logline for "Le Bel Homme," "One day, Kyosuke, a plastic surgeon, is visited by a mysterious woman, Miyuki, who pleads with him: "Change everything about me." Her true intention is to escape from her abusive husband. At first, Kyosuke is suspicious and refuses her request. However, after learning about her painful circumstances, he decides to perform the surgery. Miyuki, however, places one unusual condition—he may give her any face he chooses. After much hesitation, Kyosuke ultimately decides to recreate the face of his deceased wife. As their fates become intertwined, Miyuki’s past and the truth behind Kyosuke’s wife’s death gradually come to light. Their relationship evolves beyond that of doctor and patient, but unexpected events continue to pull them into a web of mystery and emotion.
The script for the Turkish version will be written by Ipek Kadilar, whose previous credits include Flames of Desire (Turkish: Hayat Şarkısı) and Glass Mask (Turkish: Içimdeki Fırtına), both based on the original Korean series. A first for her adapting a Japanese drama, Ipek Kadilar stated: "I am excited to share this TBS hit drama into Turkey.”
Gül Oğuz, director of Most Production added: “We are excited to be producing the Turkish version of Le Bel Homme which we believe that it will be a big hit here in Turkey and rest of the world.”
Jun Fukai, General Manager of TBS Global Business Development Department, said, “We are very pleased to begin the development of Le Bel Homme with a strong partner, MOST PRODUCTION, which has produced numerous hit movies. We eagerly anticipate the day when Le Bel Homme, which has been remade in Korea, will be broadcast in Turkey as well.”
