Plot Summary

Necati and Savaş are at the cemetery standing over their father’s grave, so it seems as if Ömer is really dead and somehow they retrieved his body and laid him to rest properly in a grave. Savaş is eager to put everything in motion to take down the Türel family but Necati wants to proceed with caution, he doesn’t explain why though.

Mahur fires Celal but he won’t be gotten rid of so easily. Aziz is recovering and tells the family to go home and everyone leaves but Firuzan. Celal offers to drive Mahur home and Necati goes with them. He’s trolling them about their relationship the whole way home and he’s trying very hard to convince both of them that they have true love and true love finds a way. Mahur states again to Celal that she will find someone else to be her bodyguard.

Sadyk is beside himself that they couldn’t locate Ömer’s body on the estate and he’s starting to panic.

In the hospital parking lot, Ilhan meets with Savaş, who pretends to be contrite about trying to force Ilhan to smuggle drugs with them. He seemingly lets him out of their arrangement but as Ilhan gets back to his car sends him pictures of Dilşad embracing Özan in a more than friendly way. Ilhan confronts Dilşad and she has to admit it.

Sami has kidnapped Nevzat and is holding him ransom to get the truckload of drugs that Celal has taken from his Sami’s father. Celal persuades the intelligence agents to give him the truck to get Nevzat back and he and a successful trade is made but after Celal blows up the truck.

Celal has a terrible dream where Mahur comes to him in the Grey Room and questions him about his love for her, she kisses him and they embrace but his hand comes away wet with her blood and she tells him that he’s going to get her killed. In real life, Celal is insisting to Mahur that he still needs to be her bodyguard but she doesn’t want to see him around her.

Özan has lunch with Mahur and tries to convince her that Celal is not to be trusted and that he is probably working with Savaş, basically all the things that he is guilty of. Because of the current state of their relationship, Mahur is more open to doubting Maraşlı. Celal comes to the restaurant and interrupts the lunch and beats Özan for daring to be close to Mahur. It was very satisfying.

Necati and Savaş follow Ilhan and Özan to a wooded area where Ilhan confronts Özan about sleeping with his wife and ruining his life. They fight as Necati and Savaş watch and make a bet whether or not Ilhan will shoot him. They are very funny and the interaction is like two guys watching a football match, all they are missing is popcorn and beer. Savaş records Ilhan on his phone ultimately killing Özan. Dilşad comes to help Ilhan and together they bury his body in the forest.

Sami vows vengeance, and even though Savaş has told them that Celal is not to be killed, he decides that it’s time for Celal to die. He puts together a team to kill him right away. They attack Mahur’s studio and she is wounded badly, as they try and escape and get to a hospital Sami and his men pursue them and Celal is forced to pull into a warehouse where he puts Mahur into a room and goes to face the men alone. She is in bad shape and has a hallucination of her mother. Celal is outgunned and on a cliffhanger, we last see him with a gun pointed at his head by Sami.

Episode Analysis

The Plot and the Players

It seems as if all the major secrets have come to light except what the end game of the intelligence agents is. They are after the Türel family but is Savaş their goal as well?

Necati and Savaş are a great evil duo, and their relationship is an interesting surprize. The big questions are why have they waited so long to take their revenge on Aziz and will they involve the Türel siblings in that revenge. Necati in some scenes seems to love his brother and sister, and they do share blood even if they are only half-siblings, so is he willing to burn them in his revenge too? If we take his glee at watching Ilhan kill Özan the answer seems to be yes. He seems perfectly willing to use his siblings to exact his revenge on Aziz and is also willing to use poor Behiye to make her father pay.

Mahur doesn’t want to be around Celal and is trying to get him to leave her alone. He tries to tell her that he is the only one who can protect her but she tells him that she’s not in danger anymore. He insists that she is and she tells him then she will find another bodyguard.

Celal has a vivid dream of her being injured and is frightened for her but also needs her for his mission, so he must try and convince her that he needs to remain by her side.

Ilhan has gone off the rails, one assumes that Savaş gave him those pictures for this purpose. He knew that Ilhan would likely kill Özan after finding out about the affair, especially after Özan sold him out over the company. Ilhan wanted to go to the police but Dilşad stopped him, claiming that she didn’t want her son to not have his father, one might think she’s thinking of herself too.

Nice bit of action with Celal rescuing his brother Nevzat from Sami and his men but it does lead to some bad consequences. Celal is heartbroken that Mahur is shot, which was foretold in his dream. We can assume she survives, given that she is a main character, but the scene with her mother was beautiful and would usually hint that the character was crossing over to the other side or at least hallucinating because of blood loss. This is Celal’s worst fear, Mahur or anyone he cares about being hurt and it’s going to be doubly bad for him because Sami’s rampage is a direct result of Celal’s actions.

My Theories and Analysis

Necati truly is evil and he and Savaş together are about to unleash hell on the Türel family. Necati has truly played a long con to make himself seem to be a helpless drunk so no one will suspect him of anything. Necati's play for the affections of Behiye, sho is truly an innocent, is particularly heinous and provides a clear view for us that he is irredeemably evil. Both actors are tremendous and it’s going to be fun to watch them match wits with Maraşlı. It still isn’t clear why they have waited so long to have their revenge or what their end game is for the family. Do they want them all dead, or in prison, or just mentally tormented? I predict that they want to torture the entire family including Sadyk and his wife.

They pushed the Maraşlı and Mahur romance hard this episode, it took up at least a third of the screen time. It’s challenging to figure out why the writers have chosen to lean so hard on this relationship this early in the series. It seems rushed and a bit forced to have the two of them be so in love to then have them break up, and for her to be injured because of him. It’s a lot of plotline in a short amount of time. The voice recordings make more sense now in that I think they are a storytelling device rather than an important thing for the plot because they are telling us his side of their relationship. It’s a clunky way of trying to portray his love for her and it’s not working as it’s too much the ‘tell’ part of storytelling. The writers have not had enough time to ‘show’ them falling deeply in love so they are relying on dialogue and the voice recordings to do the work. Necati is pushing hard for them to be together, and it’s not yet clear why that is, and Firuzan has also mentioned to Aziz multiple times about the relationship of Mahur and Maraşlı. It’s not yet clear why this relationship has featured so prominently in the show at this early stage, just to have it all fall apart by having them ‘break up’, her to not trust him anymore, and then for her to be injured so badly because of him. It will be interesting to see where they take them.

Sami is a Reservoir Dogs wannabe and this character is both overdone and taking up too much screen time. We did not need all the scenes of him beating up on Nevzat, that served no purpose. It’s going to be interesting to see who gets to him first Celal or Savaş, but I don’t think he is long for this world.

Overall a good episode, a lot of the mysteries of the series have already been revealed so it will be interesting to see what hasn’t been told yet to keep the story going. Will Necati have any remorse about harming his Türel siblings or is he that much of a sociopath? Is this the end of the romance between Mahur and Celal? What exactly are the intelligence officers after? A lot of good stuff still to come.
