September is around the corner, which means we will soon have a whole new set of Turkish TV shows to obsess over.
With the outgoing summer season the driest it has been in years, the anticipation for the new season has never been higher, and it is safe to say that with the shows that have been announced thus far, there is light at the end of the tunnel.
We’ve put together a list of new shows we’re most excited about in the 2024-2025 season. Scroll down to see which shows you absolutely do not want to miss as we step into the new season.
Leyla
Having watched and absolutely loved the original “Avenida Brasil” series, the news about the Turkish remake was a welcoming one. Like the original, Leyla will follow the revenge-driven lead character as she seeks vengeance against her stepmother, who abandoned her in a garbage dump when she was just a kid. Assuming a false identity, she takes up a job as a chef in her now-rich ex-stepmother’s mansion, but her quest to get even is soon interrupted by the reappearance of her first love.
History has shown that Turkish remakes tend to start off great and then fizzle out as time goes on, but a few things are going for “Leyla.” For one, it is being produced by Ay Yapım, a production house with a record that speaks for itself. Additionally, Globo Studios, the production house behind the original record-breaking series, will be consulting for the Turkish update. There’s more - the series also features a well-rounded cast led by Cemre Baysel, Alperen Duymaz, Gonca Vuslateri, Yiğit Kirazcı, and Halil İbrahim Ceyhan, among other big names.
Karadut
Tims&B easily wins in the casting department this season. İrem Helvacıoğlu and Şükrü Özyıldız? Like COME ON?!
In Karadut, Helvacıoğlu stars as Zuhal Erdem, who, after dramatically losing her mother, gave up her dream of attending medical school to take care of her siblings and father, ultimately becoming a famous personal development expert. Despite her persona as a modern, beautiful urban woman, she is entirely different at home, where she lives with her father and sisters. The series will follow Zuhal, who never defied the strict and extremely obsessive orders of her father, as she faces a big test with Tayfun (Özyıldız), the great love she opens her heart to after many years of dedicating her life to catering to her family.
Karadut is written by Sırma Yanık (Zalim Istanbul), which is a selling point in itself. Add the Tims&B factor, and you have a luscious dizi in the making. SIGN US UP!
Bir Gece Masalı
Release date: Tuesday, September 3 on ATV
We had the absolute pleasure of visiting the set of "Bir Gece Masalı" earlier this year. Maybe we're a little biased, but having seen how much fun the team was having on set, we can only anticipate that excitement translating on-screen.
The series will follow the impossible love story between a nomad girl (Su Burcu Yazgı Coşkun) and a police commissioner (Burak Deniz).
Siyah Kalp
Siyah Kalp was one of the first shows of the new season to begin production, and with everything we learn about the series, our excitement lifts a few notches.
The series tells the story of Sumru (Ece Uslu), who abandoned her twins at a young age and ended up marrying a wealthy businessman named Samet (Burak Sergen). Years later, the twins, Nuh (Aras Aydın) and Melek (Hafsanur Sancaktutan), discover who their mother is and travel to Cappadocia, where their mother now resides in a grand mansion. There, Nuh encounters Sevilay (Leyla Tanlar), while Melek crosses paths with Cihan (Burak Tozkoparan), Samet's son from his first marriage. Although Sumru tries to keep her children hidden from her family and maintain distance, Melek and Nuh manage to infiltrate the family and win over the hearts of Cihan and Sevilay.
Not only is the cast of Siyah Kalp pretty solid, but the story also promises to serve, and we’re about ready to be completely engrossed.
Deha
Aras Bulut İynemli has been away from our TV screens since Çukur ended in 2021 (yes, it’s really been that long), so when it was announced that he would be returning this season in an Ay Yapım production on Show TV, Deha shot up our list of most-anticipated shows of the season.
In Deha, İynemli stars as a mathematical genius who has always used his genius abilities for good, a stark contrast to his father, also a genius who uses his own skills for evil.
Billed as a revenge story, Deha also stars Uğur Polat, Taner Ölmez, Onur Saylak, Melis Sezen, Ahsen Eroğlu, Seda Akman, Zuhal Gencer, and Taner Rumeli, among other impressive names.
Kalpazan
It does not matter how many times Çağlar Ertuğrul and Deniz Baysal are paired up together. We will be there each and every time. Show TV’s Kalpazan will see their reunion this go around, with the duo set to star in the highly-anticipated series as Kartal and Ayşe, respectively.
Kalpazan follows the honest Adem (Timuçin Esen), who works as an ordinary clerk at a mint. Adem turns his life upside down with a surprise he makes for his son, Arda. What seems like an innocent gesture leads to an irreversible downfall in Adem’s life, bringing him to the brink of losing his job, his wife Canan (played by Şükran Ovalı), and even his son. Things take a further turn for the worse with the arrival of his charismatic yet cunning brother, Kartal (Çağlar Ertuğrul), during this difficult period. As the two brothers challenge the law, the only person who can bring about their downfall is Ayşe (Deniz Baysal), who is a cop. Kartal’s unexpected encounter with Ayşe and his subsequent love for her will shift the balance entirely.
Kötü Kan
Release date: Friday, September 6 on NOW
You cannot go wrong with crime dramas that feature a bit of romance. "Kötü Kan" will bring to the screen the story of Kartal, a former police officer who works as a security chief at a nightclub and finds himself entangled with a dangerous mafia group. The series follows his struggle to escape the mafia's grip while also trying to reconnect with his children, whom he moves in with after years of being apart.
Ertan Saban and Damla Sönmez share the lead role in the series. From what we've seen in the fragmans, they will be serving ANGST™️ , which, as we all know by now, is the primary ingredient of any good dizi.
Annem, Ankara
After years away from traditional dizi, Bergüzar Korel and Mehmet Günsur are making a highly anticipated comeback this season, and they’re doing it together. Do we even have to say anything else except that we love that for us?
Annem, Ankara, which is based on real events, stars Korel as Zuhal, a mother of three who is forced to navigate life with a good-for-nothing husband. We will follow Zuhal's journey as she struggles to keep her family afloat in 1990s Ankara, and her story promises to touch hearts.
Gizli Bahçe
Something about Murat Yıldırım and Ebru Şahin starring together in a dizi that sounds very promising. In Gizli Bahçe, which is set to air on NOW, Yıldırım stars as famous architect Demir who, after learning his late brother had a son, enters into a custody battle with the boy’s mother, Nazlı (Şahin).
We can safely say that Gizli Bahçe will serve on the location front, considering the series is being directed by the oh-so-talented Recai Karagöz, and some scenes in the first couple of episodes were filmed in Morocco and Cyprus.
There is also the enemies-to-lovers trope that inevitably lingers as Gizli Bahçe is described as a “deep love story.” So yeah, we’re sold.
Kör Nokta
Rabia Soytürk is an actress near and dear to our hearts, and we simply cannot miss any dizi she is starring in and this season, her dizi of choice is Sinegraf Film’s Kör Nokta.
The series narrates the story of two young girls named "Gece" and "Aslım" and tells the story of love, betrayal, and intrigue after a major traffic accident.
From the very little we’ve seen from the teasers that have been shared, there is potentially a love triangle at the center of the story, and that’s just how we like our dizis: chaotic and addictive.
Güzel Atlar Diyarı
Burak Berkay Akgül, one of last season’s breakout stars, is making his way back to Cappadocia this season for another sure-to-be enchantingly-filmed series we can’t wait to watch.
Akgül is set to lead Kanal D’s Güzel Atlar Diyarı alongside another one of our faves, Özgü Kaya. The duo will star in the mysterious and intrigue-filled story of the Alaca family, one of the oldest families in Cappadocia.
In the series, the heir of the wealthy Cappadocia-based Alaca family, Arhan Alaca (Burak Berkay Akgül), falls in love with Deniz Dervişoğlu (Özgü Kaya), a vibrant doctor from Izmir. Eager to have the rest of his family meet the love of his life, Arhan takes Deniz to Cappadocia, but their fairytale-like love story is soon met with great obstacles mounted by the secrets of their respective families.
Yoksulluk
If there is one thing OGM Pictures knows the know-how, it is rich Turkish dramas. At press time, there is just one confirmed series the production house has in the works, and it promises to be a good one from the little we can tell.
Tentatively titled Yoksulluk, the series will follow a family of eight—two parents and their six kids—that has been in hiding for over twenty years. Subsequently, the parents pass away, presumably because the man they’ve been evading finally tracks them down, and their kids, now orphaned, are forced to fend for themselves.
The incredible Cem Karcı has been tapped to direct the series, which is a major score. Then, there’s a stellar young cast that includes Hazal Subaşı, Kaan Miraç Sezen, Ece Bağcı, and Enes Koçak. TL;DR *chef’s kiss*
