Ep 12 Photo 2

Summary:

After sharing their first kiss, Ömer and Ruya decide to spend more time together in their respective environments to get to know each other better so they agree on a challenge to see who can’t withstand being in a new environment.  Ömer believes this will test the longevity of their relationship since he still has his doubts.

Tomris threats against Çelebi work, so he reluctantly agrees to help her.  He instructs her to tell the police she hasn’t been able to reach Şimal after the fire due to the trauma she sustained so she allowed her time away to deal with her problems.  Çelebi bribes Sevinch, Tomris’ assistant, and orders her to retract her testimony so they can drop the charges.  The police chief has no other choice but to let Tomris go but warns her and Çelebi that he won’t stop investigating the fire until he finds the people responsible.  As the chief watches them leave, he orders the body that was presumed to be Çiçek to be exhumed so they can do a DNA test to check if the body really belongs to Şimal, Tomris’ daughter.  However, at the same time, Çelebi requests his assistant to reach out to his contacts to delay the request as much as possible.  Çelebi also has his men ransack Ömer's shop to search for the stolen artwork but to his dismay, their search is not successful.

The following day, Jemre has her day in court for her pending divorce.  Ozan and Ruya accompany her but are disappointed when Çelebi doesn’t appear causing the court to postpone the hearing.  As Jemre leaves the court, she runs into Çelebi who tells her it may take years for their divorce to be finalized so she reminds him that she knows about a few of the crimes he’s committed and will use them against him once she gets more information about them.  Their conversation becomes intense when Çelebi threatens to separate her from Gunesh and grabs her hand, however, Ozan interferes.  Seeing Ozan defend Jemre causes Çelebi to become even more enraged, however, Jemre tells Çelebi that she doesn’t need anyone to defend her.  She demands that he let her see Gunesh or she’s prepared to take the police to his house if needed.

Çiçek visits Ali in jail who tells her not to worry about him and once he’s out, they’ll get married as planned.  Çiçek, who still feels embarrassed about her appearance, asks him if he would marry her with her scarred face but Ali assures her that he doesn’t care what she looks like.  After her visit, Tomris is waiting for Çiçek to take her to the hospital.  She surprises her by letting her know she’s performing the last reconstructive surgery on her face as promised.  Çiçek asks her not to tell anyone in case the surgery doesn’t have a good outcome.  Tomris agrees and tells her she’s doing the surgery immediately in case the police block her medical privileges during their investigation.  When they arrive at the hospital, they find the police chief waiting for her who tells her the hospital’s license has been revoked so she is unable to practice medicine.  Tomris still performs the reconstructive surgery on Çiçek without anyone’s knowledge.

Çelebi and Iskender come up with a plan to find the stolen artwork by using Kenan, Ruya’s father.  They tell him that Tomris teamed up with Ozan and Ömer to start a business behind their back however they know where they have the artwork hidden.  This is all a ploy to get Kenan to tell Tomris so she can warn Ozan and Ömer to move it.  Kenan speaks with Tomris to let her know what Çelebi told him so she immediately calls Ömer to ask him to move the artwork before Iskender gets it.

Later, Ömer and Ruya set out to complete their challenge, so Ömer takes Ruya to an estate sale to obtain items for his store.  Ruya is clueless as to what’s going on and thinks he’s stealing since she’s never been to an estate sale before.  Then Ömer takes her to a flea market to sell the items he just picked up, but Ruya turns out to be a good assistant until she gets jealous of a client who gets too chatty with Ömer.  Her jealous face is priceless!

Afterward, Ömer and Ruya accompany Ozan to relocate the artwork but notice they’re being followed, so they take a detour and stop at a bar.  When Iskender arrives, he figures out they saw him following them so he leaves empty-handed.  The following day, Ömer and Ozan warn Tomris that Kenan may be lying to her and suggest she be more careful since Iskender was following them when they were attempting to relocate the artwork. Tomris speaks with Kenan to inform him Çelebi knows he betrayed him so she cautions him to be careful as his life may be in danger.  She suggests he leave town immediately and remain in hiding until everything is settled but Kenan refuses until he sees Ruya.

Iskender notifies Çelebi about not finding the artwork so he suggests they use Kenan by making Ruya believe her father is their accomplice so she stops the investigation.  Iskender agrees and puts into play their new plan.

As Jemre is going home, she witnesses some men harassing Ms. Seher, Ozan’s mother.  She interferes and they tell her they have a message for Ozan who borrowed money from them.  They tell her he needs to pay it back soon or they’re taking the house.  Ms. Seher almost faints, so Jemre stays with her until Ozan arrives.  While waiting, she opens up about losing a son, Ozan’s older brother, who died in her house when he was a child.  When Ozan arrives, Ms. Seher is extremely upset for putting them in that situation, she yells at him for never contributing to the household except for bringing home trouble.  Ozan leaves upset and when Jemre finds him, he’s sitting alone in a park drinking.  Jemre tells him his mother was too harsh on him but Ozan tells her she’s right because he will never do anything that goes against his ideals therefore he will always be poor.

It’s Ruya’s turn for her challenge to Ömer so she takes him to a club and signs him up to sing.  He refuses at first but when she says he’ll lose if he doesn’t do it, he steps up and sings a wonderful song that the entire club loves and brings Ruya to tears.  After they decide their challenge is a draw but Ömer eventually lets Ruya win and she decides on the dinner on his terrace that he promised her weeks ago.  They run into Jemre and Ozan and notice Ozan is drunk and not in a good mood so Ömer takes him to his apartment and Ruya and Jemre go home where she finds her father waiting for her.

The following morning, Kenan tells Ruya he’s leaving for Berlin so he may not see her for a while.  He asks Ruya to forgive him for losing all their money, so Ruya tells him it’s okay because she’s learning how to earn her own money.  When Kenan asks Ruya where she was the previous night that she arrived so late, she tells him she was with Ömer.  He surprises her by telling her that he thinks he’s a good person and branded him a bully when he first met him before getting to know him.

Later, Kenan is about to leave town but Çelebi's men find him and force him into their car by telling him if he doesn’t cooperate, then his loved ones will suffer.  Ozan eventually decides to see his uncle to ask for money so they don’t their house.  Jemre is excited to spend time with Gunesh at a park but after waiting for hours, she never shows.  When Çelebi finally answers her calls, he tells her she can’t go because she’s sick.  Jemre doesn’t believe him so she rushes to his house and when she sees Gunesh in bed sick, she feels horrible for not being there so when Gunesh asks her to stay with her, she reluctantly agrees.  Ruya and Ömer's romantic dinner is interrupted by Iskender.  He tells Ruya her father has been involved in their smuggling activities.  Ömer tries to shut him up but Iskender realizes that Ömer has the same suspicions and feeds off of it to further try to fool Ruya into thinking her father is guilty.  After Ömer kicks him out, Ruya asks if he was telling the truth but when he stays quiet, Ruya tells him she realizes he was trying to protect her but will deal with him after she speaks with her father.  Outside, Iskender tells Ruya her father is in his car and suggests they talk in private, however, Ruya tells her father to get out of the car because they can’t hurt him or her.  Iskender is shocked that his plan doesn’t work.   Ruya takes her father and together they walk away but not before she sets Ömer straight.  She tells him to stop hiding the truth from her otherwise they won’t survive.

What I Disliked:

I didn’t like Jemre’s boss’ attitude.  She got upset when Jemre took one of the neighborhood kids to the diner to eat even though Jemre told her she was going to pay for his meal.  Her boss didn’t give a reason aside from demanding her to not bring any more children.  After, her boss suffers some kind of panic attack so I believe her unidentified past includes a traumatic event that involves children.  I also didn’t like how Ozan’s mother treated him.  Ozan is one of THE most honest people who only care about reporting the truth so for her to say that he will never amount to anything is not fair.  I understand she’s worried about losing her house but she should know that Ozan would never allow that to happen.

What I Loved:

I loved that Ruya didn’t fall for the lies that Iskender was telling her about her father.  She’s becoming more self-reliant and poised as opposed to the sheltered rich girl in the beginning.  I also loved all the Ömer and Ruya scenes now that they’re officially a couple.  They’re a pleasure to watch and have great chemistry together.  I loved the parallel conversations between Ruya and Çiçek and Ömer and Ozan as they discussed their new relationship status and concerns who both got the same advice to trust and believe each other no matter what.

Questions Left Unanswered:

What is the problem with Jemre’s boss and her sudden anger towards children?  What happened to her in the past that made her like that?  And why is she so mysterious?  What is the secret involving the child found in a trash can in relation to Çelebi?  Why didn’t Ozan want to get help from his uncle?  Who is he and is he a bad person?

My Thoughts:

My favorite scene was the club scene when Cihangir Ceyhan sang.  I didn't know he could sing so beautifully and the song he chose was perfect for Ruya.  I love his character, Ömer.  I thought it was so adorable when Ruya tries to kiss him on the street but he doesn’t let her because he thinks it’s too personal to do that out in the open.  There aren’t too many men left in the world who think like that.  Overall, another great episode!
