The 47th International Emmy® Awards took place today, November 25, 2019, in New York City, U.S.A. The pivotal award bestowed by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (IATAS) in recognition to the best television programs initially produced and aired outside the United States.
At today's award ceremony, veteran Turkish actor Haluk Bilginer was amongst the winners – taking home the award for 'Best Performance by an Actor' for his role in "Şahsiyet (Persona)" produced by Ay Yapim. Şahsiyet aired as a mini-series on Turkey's puhuTV in 2018. The crime drama tells the gripping story of Agâh Beyoglu (Haluk Bilginer), a retired court clerk-turned vigilante's in the wake of Alzheimers.
Bilginer's win marked the second iEmmys win for Turkey – the first being won in 2017 for another Ay Yapim drama, Kara Sevda.
